HOT DANG! Thanks to all who braved the crowds and came out to Record Store Day this year. We have heard from many happy shoppers that found prized records and a few that were disappointed with some of the more allocated titles. We are interested in making this event even better next year so if you have any feedback please let us know – john@horizonrecords.net.
We also have to thank Marvin King Revue for bringing the heavy jams! They played in the cafe and were heard (and felt!) throughout the building. It was a real treat and kept the festive vibes going though the afternoon.
Lastly, I’ll mention that we have a small box of RSD goodies left over. As of this typing we have while supplies last… 13th Floor Elevators, Air, Tori Amos, Count Basie, Blasters, Elvis Costello, David Nance, Willie Dixon, The Doors, Bill Evans, Sam Fender, Peter Gabriel, Freddie Gibbs, Astrud Gilberto, Gimisum, Gorillaz, Francis Hardy, Britney Howard, Ice-T, Little Richard, The Meters, Joni Mitchell, MJ Lenderman, O’Jays, Pixies, Gil Scott-Heron, Archie Shepp, Sister Nancy, Marty Stuart, Thin Lizzy, Peter Tosh, U-Roy

The Blasters – An American Story, The Complete Studio Recordings 1979-1985
We have one copy of this collector’s box; numbered 737 of 1000. It’s a five LP set including the band’s four studio releases as well as a disc of studio outtakes and movie music. These guys were in the thick of the LA punk scene in the late 70s and 80s but instead of going the hardcore route, they turned up the volume on roots rock Americana. Think up tempo blues and rockabilly. After The Basters, Dave Alvin would join X briefly then set out on a long and fruitful solo career bringing spirited urgency to old-school rock-n-roll, country & blues styles.
