She was part of the classic Pixies lineup but tensions between Deal and band leader Black Francis led her to focus more on her side project The Breeders and ultimately to leave the band. The Pixies were obviously better with Deal (correlation or causation 🤷) but her work with The Breeders (Pod & Last Splash!) and now with this amazing solo album, one wonders if her contribution on Surfer Rosa was more that superficial. Nobody Loves You More is full of fresh, ear-wormy tunes for a mellow rock tone with tastefully arranged horns.
