Sigal Music Museum’s newest exhibit, “Sounds of America,” will kick off with a special concert
on Friday, July 8, 2022 from 6:00 to 8:00pm. The event will take place on the lawn in front of
the museum, located at 516 Buncombe St. on Heritage Green. Performers include TUBA GIN and visiting artist JOSH WHITE JR.
Sounds of America will feature the 1943 Martin guitar that belonged to his father, Greenville native Josh White. Those attending the concert will be able to see the exhibit for a special rate of $5.00. A food truck will also be on property.
Sigal Music Museum, located on Heritage Green in downtown Greenville, is home to one of
the largest collections of historically significant musical instruments in the country. Our
newest exhibit, Sounds of America, will uncover stories from the founding of America to
modern day, displaying a cross-section of genres, artists, and developing technologies for
listening to and recording music. Features include the following:
– The first piano sold in America (1775)
– Josh White’s 1943 Martin guitar
– A recreation of John H. Williams Music Store (Greenville, 1905)
– An interactive recording studio exhibit
– A retrospective of music technology, including many pioneering recording formats
– Exhibits on Blues, Jazz, Ragtime, Gospel, and other American forms
– Interactive listening stations
