FOURTEEN YEAR OLD phenom jazz guitarist, Ronnie Elliott, will be leading a trio of veteran musicians – Phillip Howe (piano), Kevin Kehrberg (bass), and Kevin Korschgen (drums) – on Thursday, December 7th for Wheel Session #104!
Now just who is this guitar prodigy shaking both the local and global jazz scenes?
Ronnie began his jazz guitar studies at the tender age of 7, swiftly becoming a regular player at the Greenville Jazz Collective Jazz Jam and joining the Greenville Jazz Collective’s Youth Jazz Ensemble by age 9.
In 2019 the Greenville Journal published a cover story on his work busking downtown, and in 2021, he served as Arts Ambassador for the Boys and Girls Club of America, with his videos being shared to all 4 million of the youth involved.
Downbeat Magazine‘s 2023 Jazz Soloist winner has been a student of NYC guitarist Jonathan Kreisberg for the past three and a half years and is currently a first-year student at the Fine Arts Center, under the direction of Steve Watson.
Now in its sixth year of presenting concerts, The Wheel Sessions has established itself as the premier location for hearing great jazz in the Upstate!
Located in the Heddle Industrial Park on Rutherford Rd, upon entering the studio you feel as though you’ve crossed a threshold into a NY City underground jazz club. Its musicians regularly represent a wide radius, extending to Charlotte, Asheville, Atlanta, and Charleston.
