Whoever said that Greenville’s music scene ain’t gettin’ it right wasn’t in the cozy confines of Horizon Records tonight, when Glenn Jones sat down in front of a great crowd and conjured magic from his specially tuned guitars and banjo. WALTER SALAS-HUMARA, creator of visionary garage-acoustic Americana and founder of the SILOS, plays an in-store show store-side TONIGHT at 7pm!
With this apocalyptic agrarianism safely encoded in his band’s name, Salas-Humara moved on once that lineup had run its course — taking with him not the country revisionism that by now could have sustained him in an endless holding pattern, but rather the Lower East Side’s fervid avant-gardism, that high-test mixture of aggression and dissonance…

JOHN MORELAND brought the soulful acoustic heartbreak of his new album BIG BAD LUV to Horizon Records on his way to THE GREY EAGLE, and we were amazed and grateful.
While Moreland isn’t exactly copping a rosy outlook on these songs, there is more of a positive vibe that’s in keeping with the upbeat music. “Old Wounds” doesn’t avoid talking about the hard times, but it also advises to “find the heaven following the hurt.” On “Salisaw Blue,” a noose hanging down from the sky…
