M.C. Taylor, aka Hiss Golden Messenger, is one of modern music’s great musical alchemists. He somehow finds common ground between alt-country’s ragged twang, the richly produced, laid-back Laurel Canyon rock of the 1970’s and the most incisive folk singer/songwriters of the past few decades, but instead of seeming chaotic or awkward, the sounds all fit like that worn pair of jeans.
It’s a heartfelt, realistic-but-romantic sound that seems to get better the further you strip it down, and that’s what he’ll be doing at Independent Public Ale House on March 6th. It’s solo acoustic all the way, with an opening slot from Archer Vs. Gunman’s Shaun Williams.
