There’s a lot we could say about JASON ISBELL, about amazing work as a singer, songwriter and bandleader, about his string of brilliant albums over the last decade, SOUTHEASTERN, SOMETHING MORE THAN FREE and THE NASHVILLE SOUND, about the in-store he played here (one of three!) back in 2015 as part of our RECORD STORE DAY celebration, and much more.
But Jason and his incredible band THE 400 UNIT have once again gone above and beyond for folks like us, and we’ll let this announcement from his label, SOUTHEASTERN RECORDS/THIRTY TIGERS, speak for itself:
“As a thank you for all the support over the years, Jason Isbell and the 400 Unit will be opening sales for their new album, Reunions, a week early exclusively for independent record stores. These are strange times we live in and the hope is that getting a jump start on sales of the album will be of some help to you in a time of need. Jason and the band look forward to seeing you again in person when they get back on the road. Hang in there!”
That’s right, people, we got Reunions before anyone (or anywhere) else, available for curbside pickup (call us at 864-235-7922 or email info@horizonpro.wpenginepowered.com) and at our webstore, which you can visit by clicking HERE.
BUT THAT’S NOT ALL:
In addition, Jason is making a limited run of prints of his 1959 Gibson Les Paul available free with purchase of the album.
So head over to our WEBSTORE now to get a copy of REUNIONS!
A Word About The Album
What happens after an artist has achieved his dreams? That was the major question Jason Isbell was asking himself leading up to the creation of his newest album, Reunions, recorded with the 400 Unit and produced by celebrated producer Dave Cobb. After all, four-time Grammy winner Isbell is at the top of his game. The result is a seamless collection of ten new songs that delve into relationships with lovers, friends, children, parents, and one’s self. There are rousing anthems that will have stadiums singing along, lyrical standouts that highlight some of Isbell’s best writing to date, moving looks at youth and childhood, a deep dive into the challenges of relationships, and deeply personal songs about alcoholism and parenthood. All of them offer us an artist at the height of his powers and a band fully charged with creativity and confidence.
“Success is a very nice problem to have but I think ‘how do I get through it and not lose what made me good in the first place?’” he says. “A lot of these songs and the overall concept of this album is how do I progress as an artist and a human being and still keep that same hunger that I had when I wasn’t quite so far along in either respect.” Isbell’s solution: to go back in time with his hard-gained knowledge. The result is a seamless collection of ten new songs that delve into relationships with lovers, friends, children, parents, and one’s self.
