PAT MARTINO’s death in November of 2021 cast a shadow over the jazz world. The lightning-fast guitarist and composer was a hero to many players, including John Scofield, Joey DeFrancesco, Mike Allemana and even Questlove Thompson. His playing was at once complex and melodic, inviting fans of all types of music into his singular compositional world.
Now, members of the GREENVILLE JAZZ COLLECTIVE have gathered together to pay tribute to Martino, his legacy and his music at CENTER STAGE THEATRE this Saturday. Gathering together five guitarists, Matt Dingledine, Lee Barbour, Tim Fischer, Adam Knight and Trey Wright, along with a heavyweight rhythm section of Lovell Bradford-keys, Shannon Hoover-bass and Xavier Breaker-drums, the performance promises to be a great one. And the musicians will even be holding a guitar masterclass from 6-7pm before the performance begins at 8pm.
